4 - 7: pesach tuesday

listening

  • radiohead 'the bends'. how have i never listened to radiohead before. the chord progression in 'planet telex' scratches my brain in a positive way.
  • brigadeiro (gabi belle): i've been watching a lot of her videos on ai in music and this is very cute. bing bong :-)
  • from gabi belle's video linked in watching: velvet daydream, murphy campbell. former is a pretty standard rock act, nothing too standout for me right now, latter is a classic country vibe that i really like.
  • trueanon cuba episodes. really good interviews.

playing

  • shitload of slay the spire 2. i've unlocked all the guys! i have yet to complete a run in single player mode but have done a good amount of mulitplayer w friends. so far i've gotten the furthest on my own with the silent, shiv build goes crazy.

making

  • fallow on creative stuff but i've been doing a lot of research on new backpack/tote/something to get and also started the processes of tagging my old photos...i want to be able to search "tags:luna" in my hard drive and get every photo of my cat yk? i could also just move things into folders based on subject instead of date...the dates are contained in the file names...idk, i'm considering options. one perk of apple/google photos is being able to search 'cat' and it will pretty reliably show you all your photos of cats.

eating

  • chag pesach! i had two potluck style seders for the first and second night, and then circumstances made it such that my mom, brother, and i were all in the same place for the fifth night for the first time since like...2020? so even though it is not traditional we had a little seder that night together.
  • potluck one: i made an arugula salad with snap peas, minced pickled radish, avocado, and a lemon/dijon/balsamic type dressing, as well as this salmon dip, using dairy-free cream cheese and sour cream because the folks that night kept the meat/dairy kosher split. the vegan cream cheese and sour cream were.......not great on their own, but when all mixed together it was quite good! i made some subs/replacements - couldn't find fresh dill so i used fresh tarragon and dill weed instead, added some capers, etc. a lot of taste, add spice, taste again, repeat.
  • potluck two: i was assigned chicken for the congregation seder, just like last year. last year i made 28 and only like 5 people ate them. i was smarter this year and only made 14. this is the marinade i generally use for legs, it's tasty and easy.
  • seder at home: my mom made brisket and i made these stuffed mushrooms and this sweet potato kugel! the mushrooms were easy and tasty, i brushed the outsides of the mushrooms with olive oil as well and also minced the mushroom stems in with the celery and onion to saute. the kugel was..interesting? idk it was good, i'm just more used to noodle kugels i think. grating the potato was a big pain and i very poorly made my own matzoh meal by crushing a sheet of matzoh but it came out well enough.
