9 - 2: combo tuesday
listening	new jim gordon must die! apparently Franz Ferdinand will be in my area on tour this fall so I've been jamming to their newest album to decide if I'm going to buy a ticket (I think I am, I'm really enjoying it). a little more synth-heavy than some of their past albums. synth riff in The Doctor reminds me of Ghost lol. Favorite tracks: Audacious, Hooked, Build It Up, Night or Day, Tell Me I Should Stay, The Birds. I recognize that's six tracks out of an eleven track album so I'll call Hooked my favorite I think.
reading	in the last arc of Evil as Humans! need to go to the library because I want to take out a hard copy of Greg Egan Blindsight
watching	more apothecary diaries with boyf, like 4 episodes left of s2? I realized the other night we accidentally skipped episode 5 so we have to do a brief backtrack lol
playing	disco elysium is good, y'all. been playing with a friend. I like Joyce a lot and not just because she's a milf I don't normally note down magic the gathering in here because it happens sporadically and is mostly just a vehicle to hanging out as opposed to being About The Game but we've been doing vintage cube draft and last game I actually put together a really good deck and beat the best player out of our friends...dark depths and vampire hexmage hashtag synergies
making	very slowly drawing blobs on the inside of the matcha bowl for friend. I think it's a birthday gift so as long as it's done by Oct 19 I'm golden
eating	fallow since Thursday. leftovers zone.
misc	did a thursdaypost but just on neocities last week 8/28 so this one kinda short! I am comboing it for dreamwidth and tumblr. finally told my advisor that I need a crumb, a mote, a smidgen of attention from her and she was very amenable thank god

9 - 9: on time tuesday
listening	I recently decided to try out a tidal trial to see if I want to use that as a streaming service...so far I don't think so but in the process of looking up some of my favorite bands on there I noticed that The Dear Hunter did a remastering of Migrant in 2023 for its 10th anniversary. I.......do not think I like it LOL. it's definitely 'technically' better than the original - like, you can tell the track mixing is more smooth and balanced on this one - but I honestly prefer the 'rougher' sound of the original mixing. also they changed the order of the songs which I empathetically do Not like. overall a real uncanny valley listen for me because it is familiar and good but Not Quite Right at the same time. go listen to the original album it kicks ass still. some examples: whisper from 2013, whisper from 2023. smoother guitar, less bass, they cut some of the gaps/pauses in the vocals? I'm not gonna link it but 'shame' is another track that it's super obvious on, there's added guitar that feels almost lo-fi in spots which is certainly a choice but. I don't know I just don't like it. I DO like the song Owls which was not on the original album, even the deluxe version, but appears to have been released a year or two later in addition with 'Middle Ground' and 'Like Crazy', which bafflingly are greyed out on spotify which is why I'd never heard them before. so I guess I will have to find those somewhere. I don't see them on tidal OR bandcamp either. bizarre. the tracks that I either like or don't mind the remastering for: Shouting at the Rain, An Escape, Don't Look Back, Old Demons, Dig Your Own Grave (still my favorite track of the album, and I think the remastering suits this one pretty well actually)...I don't think it's a coincidence that the bonus tracks of the original album took to the remastering the best imo, they already had kind of a different feel than the rest of the album. finally listened to The Crane Wives' Foxlore and Coyote Stories all the way through. I probably have done this already in a Tuesdaypost but forgot. good albums. Doechii Alligator Bites Never Heal at the gym, favorite track is Nissan Altima surprising no one Moon Colony Bloodbath by The Mountain Goats also good. AND the new single from them!! new album November! and I just noticed there will be a Sunset Tree remaster in October as well. excited to hate that one like I don't like the Migrant remaster (joking)
reading	read the intro and first chapter of "On Repentance and Repair" by Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg, Alex got copies for Danielle and I as ... I think birthday presents because our birthdays are in the same week? I forget, it could have been for Hannukah. regardless we've talked about book clubbing it for ages but uh. we have not. and so this year finally Danielle was like 'here's a schedule, we're book clubbing every wednesday' but I've already fucked that up by not reading chapter 2 yet and being unavailable tomorrow lol. some thoughts cooking about it. The Untold Saga of What Happened When DOGE Stormed Social Security by Eli Hager. oofdah. I like many of our generation am already prepared to pay into social security for years and never receive any benefit lol
watching	finished Apothecary Diaries season 2!!! it was super cute. I know it's meant to be ambiguous but I truly cannot tell if Maomao is reciprocating his feelings at all. I'm also not convinced still that Jinshi is actually the current emperor's brother and not his son with Ah-Duo. unlike with Dungeon Meshi I do not feel particularly compelled to go read the light novel/manga to find out right now.
playing	almost done with day 2 of disco elysium!
making	finished the top of the dust cover for my switch! just gotta do sides now which are much simpler on purpose. I did kind of freeball the binding without looking up a tutorial which is why it overlaps weird...I feel like that is not correct lol oh well. thinking about my Lain hat knitting project for halloween.....no progress yet though. that might be a speed knit. went to the new yarn shop downtown and they didn't have exactly what I needed so I will probably do the online order after all.
eating	made the one pot chicken meatballs with greens again, and again with beef instead of chicken. used 90 percent lean ground beef this time and that may have actually been a mistake because the meat balls did stick to my pan pretty bad lol
misc	music-heavy this week! also I finally said fuck it and am paying $15/mo for a non-campus gym so I don't have to fight frat bros for bench access.
